Tips for evaluating the quality of a celery powder:

Start with the Taste and smell - A celery powder should taste and smell like celery. Our powder is made by freeze-drying whole celery stalks and grinding them into a powder. It has a very fresh celery taste and scent. If a celery powder does not have a strong celery taste or smell it has likely be diluted with some sort of filler (such as maltodextrin). Our powder is 100% pure.
Color - Celery powder should be a light green color, just like fresh celery. Our powder is 100% pure celery with nothing added in. If it is more whitish than green, it has probably had some sort of carrier (like maltodextrin) added to it. In the photo above you can see a photo of KOYAH's organic freeze-dried celery powder compared to an equal weight of a competitor's top selling celery powder. Our powder is much more vibrant in color, and also much more light and fluffy, showing that the cellular structure of our powder is still in-tact (because it was freeze-dried).

Other things to consider - Lastly, when evaluating the quality of a celery powder it is important to understand how and where the product was grown. Was it grown using Organic farming practices and is it certified USDA Organic? Was it grown in good quality soil, or was it grown in highly polluted areas (such as China where heavy metals such as lead can be a major concern).
